MAX’s R & D philosophy exposed the importance and benefit of expanding the capability of compressors over 25 years ago. Traditionally, compressors powered pneumatic tools designed for applications such as wood framing, fastening shingles, siding, and trim work, but MAX’s over 200 engineers postulated that making a more dynamic compressor could expand the capacity on jobsites, in turn creating a market for smaller, lighter tools, with the ability to shoot through a greater variety of materials.

MAX developed the world’s first 500 psi (“PowerLite”) compressor in 1994. Developing this diverse and more powerful compressor system allowed pneumatic tools to meet the diverse demands of today’s job sites. It opened up the use of pneumatic tools to concrete and steel applications, replacing the need for powder actuated and gas tools. Through this invention, pneumatic tools became much more versatile. Whether shooting through engineered lumber, steel or concrete, MAX PowerLite compressors serve many contractors, delivering 3.4 CFMs of air at 100 PSI and 2.6 CFMs at 300 PSI.

MAX has two new PowerLite compressor models, the AKHL1260E and AKHL1260EX, which are both extremely lightweight and powerful. At 35.4 lbs and 51.1 lbs. respectively, these air compressors can hold compressed air at 500 psi. The AKHL1260E is equipped with two tanks and the AKHL1260EX five tanks. 4 air-outlets come standard on both compressors. 2 outlets for high pressure tools and 2 outlets for regular 100 psi pressure tools. Easily transform the AKHL1260E to a 5-tank compressor by attaching the optional AKTH13 accessory.

MAX Powerlite Compressors are powered by a DC-Brushless motor and have an inverter circuit which adjusts the RPM to extract maximum performance at different voltage levels. This technology allows start up in cold weather and operation under poor electric supply conditions (down to 70 volts without popping the breaker). An LED light indicator system is built in to identify performance issues and the compressor’s easy drain lever quickly releases air and water from the compressor’s tanks. The PowerLite compressor is also extremely quiet which allows it to be used indoors without disturbing nearby occupants.

As mentioned, PowerLite compressors can be used to operate 100 PSI pneumatic tools but MAX also manufactures a series of PowerLite tools that will only work with a high pressure compressor. One tool being the HN90F, a lightweight replacement to the conventional coil framing nailer. This tool can shoot up to a 3-1/2″ x .148” wire or plastic collated nail.

The HN90F can be used for framing, sheathing, decking, furring, siding, subflooring, as well as crate and box assembly. Backed by the power of a 500 PSI Powerlite® compressor the HN90F can easily drive nails through the toughest wood. At only 5.7 lbs. the HN90F is approximately 40% lighter than most competitive tools without sacrificing driving power, which can reduce user fatigue. Some key benefits to switching to the PowerLite HN90F include:

Lightweight—only 5.7 lbs., approximately 40% lighter than most competitor’s tools without sacrificing power or placing unnecessary strain on the body.

The patented, self-cleaning end cap filter captures foreign substances before they can enter the tool and automatically ejects them when the air hose is disconnected.

Less than 13″ the HN90F is 12% shorter than conventional coil framing tools for easier maneuverability.

Its substantial 300 nail capacity magazine ensures less time is spent reloading the tool compared to a stick nailer. Shoots up to a 3 1/2″ x .148″ nail.
